How to Survive the First Year in Med School

With all the books you have to read, with all the tests you have to take, the sleepless nights, when coffee becomes your friend and time is the enemy.. Yup, you are a Medical student.

Frequently asked question "How do you survive your first year in medicine?"

Honestly, entering the field of medicine is a suicide, how ironic that people that pursue medicine wants to cure the sick but forget about their selves.

So, how did i survived my first year?

LISTEN, LEARN, LIVE

Listening - one of the most underestimated tool, always listen to your lectures, chances that things mentioned here will be on your examinations.

Learn-  do not end a day without any lessons / new information learned.. Try writing in a notebook, anything that you have learned from that day. There are lots of things to learn in medicine! enjoy the fact that you are now seeing things in a different perspective :)

Live - In my case, every friday is a movie day! DEVOUR a mouth watering burger! Laugh! Relax! You must not forget to live life, and enjoy the little things. Yes, medicine will be very tough and stressful but a warm glass of milk, a good laugh and seeing your favorite tv show, will help you keep your sanity :P

*Get enough sleep! - this is very important, atleast for me :))
never take an exam without getting enough sleep, remember your brain organizes your thoughts when you are in your deep sleep :P
